Benalmadena cable car (800m) + hicking + mountain bike paradise : a nice family excursion
The cable car (or teleferico) was opened in 2003 and has fast become one of the main tourist attractions on the Costa del Sol.
The 15 minute cable car journey takes visitors up to one of the highest points on the coast, Mount Calamorro at 800m.
The views are breathtaking. On clear days, Sierra Nevada is clearly visible, as are the Riff mountains in Morocco.
It makes a great outing for all the family.

On getting to the top of the mountain, there are several trails, all are clearly signposted for those who want to explore the area in their own time.
The most popular view points are the Cima Calamorro (the Calamorro Mountain Peak) and Sur (southern viewpoint) and Oeste (western viewpoint). For the less energetic, there are also donkey rides available.
Bird of prey sanctuary

The most popular spectacle is the bird of prey sanctuary. Situated right on the top of Calamorro and offering more than sixty different bird species, such as royal eagles, vultures, peregrine falcons and Royal Owls. With displays taking place regularly. The bird of prey sanctuary also has a successful breeding program in place, with four rare Royal Owls chicks having been born there recently.
Mountain bike
It also a mountain biking paradise. With many people buying a one way ticket to the top and cycling back down.
